Angie graduated Arizona State University BA Marketing and worked 20 + years in direct sales. She is a wife of 30+ years, Mom to 2 married daughters and now 2 grandchildren. Prior to stepping- Angie served on the Topeka Bible Church Women’s ministry Council for 12 years and it was there that God began stirring her heart to pray and serve victims of sex trafficking along with the faith community. In 2020, after realizing that there were little options in Kansas for women who want to exit or escape the life, Angie along with the support of many stepped out in faith to open a restoration home – the first one in Topeka, KS. Today she is active in the Shawnee County Human Trafficking Coalition where she strives to collaborate on creating community awareness, advocate for those vulnerable to traffickers.

Cindy Patton

Cindy Patton

Treasurer

Cindy Patton graduated from Washburn University with a BA in Political Science and JD from Washburn School of Law. Patton practiced law with her husband, Joe Patton, at Patton and Patton for 25 years. Previously, she served as Chief Administrator of Cair Paravel Latin School and Executive Director of the Topeka City of Character. Patton is currently serving as Treasurer of The Urban Ministry Institute of Topeka, and as Treasurer at The Project 2 Restore.

Melissa Smith

Melissa Smith

Melissa earned her degree in Business Administration with a minor in Spanish from Kansas State University and she is SHRM-certified, committed to continuous growth and excellence in the HR profession. She is the Vice President of Human Resources at a leading sports construction company. She is passionate about building strong teams and fostering a positive, and people-centered culture. Guided by her faith, she strives to lead with integrity, compassion, and purpose in every area of life. Outside of work, she’s a wife and parent to two wonderful kids, grateful for the blessings of family, faith, and meaningful work. Prior to joining our Board of Directors in 2025 Melissa dedicated several years of time as a volunteer helping us plan and execute our events.

Kim Borchers

Kim Borchers

Kim Borchers graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Human Biology. Borchers is the President and owner of Bird Dog Recruitment and Consulting LLC. She has previously served as the Executive Director of Leadership Development at the Foundation for Government Accountability and as the Deputy Chief of Staff for the administration of Governor Sam Brownback. Currently, Borchers serves on the Kansas Human Anti-Trafficking Advisory Board, Eisenhower in Public Service Series Board, Kansas Delta Dental and the Topeka Women’s Fund. Kim is also a founding board member.
Sandy Ruelle

Sandy Ruelle

Sandy Ruelle received her BSBA degree majoring in Management and Marketing from the University of North Dakota. After a few years of getting paid for working, Sandy entered the world of “volunteering” by serving in leadership roles on school PTA Boards and on her church Women’s Ministry Council plus helping with community needs. Since the founding of Project 2 Restore she has utilized her God given gift of organization and attention to detail as the Project 2 Restore Board Secretary and our Volunteer Bookkeeper. She is married to Mark, has 3 adult children and 4 beautiful grandchildren.

Dawna McCabe

Dawna McCabe

Dawna McCabe graduated from Washburn University with an AA degree in Computer Information Systems and a BBA in Business Administration and was recently inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society. After spending 20+ years in the corporate world at Payless ShoeSource and Hill’s Pet Nutrition in various analytical and management roles, she is now the President and CEO of Century Business Technologies, a Topeka-based, certified women-owned corporation specializing in office technology and IT solutions. Dawna brings a business perspective to our team. Her experience and knowledge of board service is a great asset as she served previously on the board of Junior Achievement for 10+ years. Dawna also serves on the Copier Dealers Association Board as the CFO Chair, Topeka Chamber of Commerce and Project 2 Restore. Her and her husband Mark also support various local, national, and international non-profit organizations and missions.
